About Us

Adipose drift boat- Missouri river

Independent Guides. One River. No Distractions.

Jeff Lattig spent a career as fireman in South Carolina — and on his days off he was on the water. Living Water Guide Service was founded on those saltwater flats, as an Orvis-endorsed operation targeting redfish and tarpon. Eventually the Missouri River called, and Jeff packed up his family and made Montana home, bringing his standards and his guide service west.

Living Water is an independent operation. There’s no fly shop attached, no lodge to fill, no retail agenda. What we have is a team of full-time, professional guides — most of whom are licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captains — who fish the Missouri more days per year than most anglers fish in a lifetime. That singular focus is the whole point.

Why Independent Matters

Most operations on the Missouri River are built around something else — a fly shop, a lodge, a broader statewide outfitting business. All of those can be great. But when guiding is the only thing you do, it changes how you approach it.

Every dollar we invest goes into boats, equipment, and guides. Every conversation we have is about your trip. When you call us, you’re not talking to a shop counter — you’re talking to someone who was on the river this week and will be back on it tomorrow.

That independence keeps us sharp, and our clients feel it. We have over 100 and counting five-star Google reviews because we care about the fishing as much as you do, and we don’t have anything else to fall back on if we don’t deliver.

The Land of Giants

The Missouri River below Holter Dam is exceptional on its own — 35 miles of blue-ribbon tailwater that fishes well from early spring through late fall. Our float trips and walk-and-wade days on that water are the core of what we do.

But we also go somewhere most guides don’t. The Land of Giants is a remote canyon section below Hauser Dam, accessible only by jet boat with a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain. The trout here are different — big, lake-fed fish that move into the river to feed, held in deep runs between towering limestone walls. It’s a bucket-list stretch of water, and Living Water is one of the few outfitters on the Missouri who can take you there.

What to Expect

We guide anglers of every skill level — beginners who’ve never cast a fly rod and veterans chasing a personal best on a dry fly. The Missouri is generous enough to reward all of them. Our guides are patient teachers and skilled watermen who know this river intimately.

We provide everything: rods, reels, flies, tackle, a cooler stocked with drinks, and a shore lunch worth looking forward to. You show up ready to fish. We handle the rest.

The Missouri River is one of the great trout fisheries in North America. We’d love to show it to you.
