This stunning body of water offers anglers of all skill levels an opportunity to catch a wide variety of fish species in a picturesque setting. The Reservoir

Canyon Ferry is a large body of water located in the central part of Montana, formed by the Missouri River. It stretches for over 25 miles and covers an area of approximately 35,000 acres. The reservoir is home to a wide variety of fish species, including walleye, northern pike, rainbow trout, brown trout, kokanee salmon, and yellow perch. They are most commonly caught during the summer months when they are more active and can be found in shallow waters near weed beds and other underwater structures.

Campgrounds at Canyon Ferry Reservoir

  1. Hellgate Campground: This campground is located on the west shore of the reservoir and offers both tent and RV sites. The campground has picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, but no water or electric hookups.
  2. Goose Bay Marina & Campground: This campground is located on the east shore of the reservoir and offers RV and tent camping. The campground has full hookups, showers, a boat ramp, and a marina.
  3. Chinamen’s Campground: This campground is located on the south shore of the reservoir and offers tent and RV camping. The campground has picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, but no water or electric hookups.
  4. Confederate Campground: This campground is located on the north shore of the reservoir and offers tent and RV camping. The campground has picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets, but no water or electric hookups.

The campgrounds can be reserved online or by phone through Recreation.gov. It is always recommended to make a reservation in advance, especially during peak season, as these campgrounds can fill up quickly.
